It didn’t take long after the debut of our APC9 platform for requests to begin flowing in for a larger-framed version chambered in the ubiquitous 5.56 NATO. We began work immediately, incorporating all the features found in the APC9 to create a state-of-the-art, fully ambidextrous assault rifle. The APC223/556 utilizes a piston operating system optimized for suppressor use and regulated via an adjustable gas valve. It can easily be tuned as weapon fouling increases due to heavy firing schedules or prolonged use with a suppressor.

Just like the APC9, the APC223/556 rifle with its 16.5-in. barrel employs a hydraulic buffer system that reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise, enhances intermediate barrier penetration, and increases terminal performance, all in a size optimized for discreet deployment. APC rifle-caliber platforms are compatible with myriad B&T accessories including our folding/telescoping MBT stock, interfaces, handguard enhancements, optic mounts and suppressors, allowing mission-specific platform customization. This rifle is also available in .308 Win. (APC308) with a choice of 16- or 18.8-in. barrels, and both calibers are available in black or Coyote Tan.”
